भारतीय क्रिकेट इतिहास में यह पहली बार ही हुआ है जब टीम एक साथ तीनों फॉर्मेट में नंबर वन बनी हो. भारतीय टीम टी-20 और वनडे फॉर्मेट में पहले से ही नंबर वन पायदान पर थी, ऑस्ट्रेलिया के खिलाफ टेस्ट सीरीज शुरू होने से पहले टीम इंडिया टेस्ट में नंबर-2 पर थी लेकिन नागपुर में पारी और 132 रनों से मिली जीत के बाद यहां भी भारत नंबर वन बन गया टीम इंडिया एक साथ तीनों फॉर्मेट में नंबर एक नहीं बनी है। यानी कि रोहित शर्मा की कप्तानी में टीम इंडिया ने इतिहास रच दिया है। एक ही साथ तीनों फॉर्मेट में नंबर एक बनने का रिकॉर्ड सिर्फ साउथ अफ्रीकी टीम के नाम है। साउथ अफ्रीका 2013 में एक ही साथ वनडे, टेस्ट और टी20 की नंबर एक टीम बनी थी। अफ्रीकी टीम के बाद अबतक कोई भी टीम दोबारा ऐसा नहीं कर पाई है। लेकिन रोहित की सेना ने 10 साल बाद ये मुकाम हासिल कर लिया है।
