बॉलीवुड एक्ट्रेस जिया खान सुसाइड केस में अभिनेता सूरज पंचोली को मुंबई की सीबीआई कोर्ट ने बरी कर दिया है. मामले की सुनवाई के दौरान जज ए एस सैय्यद ने पहले कटघरे में खड़े सूरज पंचोली का नाम पूछा फिर कहा कि सबूतों के अभाव में आपको दोषी नहीं पाया जा सकता. इसलिए आप आरोप से बरी किए जाते हैं. जिया खान की खुशकुशी मामले में साल 2019 में मुकदमा शुरू हुआ और 20 अप्रैल 2023 को सुनवाई पूरी हुई. तकरीबन 10 साल बाद मुंबई की एक विशेष सीबीआई अदालत इस मामले में आज अपना फैसला सुनाया है. जिया खान ने 3 जून 2013 को जुहू स्थित अपने घर में आत्महत्या कर ली थी और इस घटना में सूरज पंचोली पर एक्ट्रेस को आत्महत्या के लिए उकसाने का आरोप लगाया गया था. इस मामले की जांच जुहू पुलिस कर रही थी और जांच के दौरान 7 जून 2013 को जिया खान के घर से पुलिस को 6 पन्नों का हाथ से लिखा हुआ सुसाइड नोट मिला था. इसके बाद मुंबई पुलिस ने 11 जून 2013 को बॉलिवुड एक्टर आदित्य पंचोली के बेटे सूरज पंचोली को जिया को खुदकुशी के लिए उकसाने के आरोप में गिरफ्तार कर लिया था. सीबीआई ने आरोप लगाया था कि मुंबई पुलिस द्वारा जब्त किया गया पत्र जिया ने ही लिखा था. जांच एजेंसी ने दावा किया था कि पत्र में सूरज के साथ जिया के अंतरंग संबंधों के साथ-साथ उनके कथित शारीरिक शोषण, मानसिक और शारीरिक यातना के बारे में बात की गई है, जिस वजह से उन्होंने खुदकुशी की.वहीं, इस मामले में अभियोजन पक्ष की प्रमुख गवाह और जिया की मां राबिया खान ने अदालत से कहा कि उनका मानना है कि यह हत्या का मामला है, न कि आत्महत्या का। बंबई उच्च न्यायालय ने मामले की नए सिरे से जांच कराने की मांग वाली राबिया की याचिका को पिछले साल खारिज कर दिया था.
