भारतीय सेना की आर्टिलरी रेजिमेंट में पहली बार महिलाओं को मौका मिला है। आर्टिलरी रेजिमेंट में आज पांच महिला अधिकारियों को कमीशन किया गया है। ऑफिसर्स ट्रेनिंग एकेडमी “OTA” चेन्नई में सफल प्रशिक्षण के बाद ये महिला अधिकारी आर्टिलरी रेजिमेंट का हिस्सा बन गई हैं। सूत्रों के मुताबिक, इन्हें सभी प्रकार की आर्टिलरी इकाइयों में शामिल किया जाएगा। सैन्य सूत्रों ने बताया कि रेजिमेंट ऑफ आर्टिलरी में शामिल होने वाली महिला अधिकारियों में लेफ्टिनेंट महक सैनी, लेफ्टिनेंट साक्षी दुबे, लेफ्टिनेंट अदिति यादव और लेफ्टिनेंट पवित्र मुदगिल शामिल हैं। पांच महिला अधिकारियों में से तीन को चीन की सीमा पर तैनात इकाइयों में तैनात किया गया है और अन्य दो को पाकिस्तान से लगती सीमा के पास “चुनौतीपूर्ण स्थानों” पर तैनात किया गया है। महिला सैन्य अधिकारियों में लेफ्टिनेंट महक सैनी को एक “SATA” रेजिमेंट दिया गया है। वहीं, लेफ्टिनेंट साक्षी दुबे और लेफ्टिनेंट अदिति यादव को फील्ड रेजिमेंट में शामिल किया गया है। इनके अलावा लेफ्टिनेंट पवित्र मुदगिल को एक मीडियम रेजिमेंट और लेफ्टिनेंट आकांक्षा को एक रॉकेट रेजिमेंट में कमीशन दिया गया है।भारतीय सेना की आर्टिलरी रेजिमेंट में महिलाओं का शामिल होना ऐतिहासिक माना जा रहा है। अभी तक महिलाएं के लिए सेना के इंजीनियर्स कोर, आर्मी एयर डिफेंस, इलेक्ट्रॉनिक्स एंड मैकेनिकलजज एडवोकेट जनरल डिपार्टमेंट, मेडिकल कॉर्प्स इंजीनियर्स, मिलिट्री नर्सिंग सर्विस जैसी सेवाओं में विशेष कैडर था, लेकिन अब सेना ने महिलाओं और पुरुषों के बीच का फर्क खत्म करने के लिए ऐतिहासिक कदम उठाया है।
