अन्नाद्रमुक (एआईएडीएमके) के पूर्व सांसद वी. मैत्रेयन ने शुक्रवार (09 जून) को भारतीय जनता पार्टी (बीजेपी) का दामन थाम लिया. दिल्ली में बीजेपी मुख्यालय में पार्टी के महासचिव अरुण सिंह और सीटी रवि ने उन्हें पार्टी की सदस्यता दिलाई. साल 2000 के समय में मैत्रेयन बीजेपी में ही हुआ करते थे.इसके बाद वो बीजेपी छोड़ एआईएडीएमके में शामिल हो गए थे. मैत्रेयन भारतीय स्वतंत्र सेनानी केआर वायुदेवन के बेटे हैं. बीजेपी में शामिल होने के बाद उन्होंने कहा, “23 साल बाद मेरी बीजेपी में वापसी हुई है. अरुण जेटली जी मेरे अच्छे दोस्त थे. धर्मेंद्र प्रधान मेरे अच्छे मित्र है. मोदी जी एक विजनरी नेता है. आज नया भारत नया लक्ष्य लेकर विकसित हो रहा है.राज्यसभा सांसद रह चुके मैत्रेयन का बीजेपी में स्वागत करते हुए अरुण सिंह ने कहा, “उनके पार्टी में शामिल होने से बीजेपी तमिलनाडु में और ज्यादा मजबूत होगी.” वहीं सीटी रवि ने पार्टी में उनका स्वागत करते हुए दावा किया कि तमिलनाडु में सिर्फ 4 विधायक होने के बावजूद बीजेपी ही वास्तविक विपक्षी पार्टी की भूमिका निभा रही है, आने वाले दिनों में बीजेपी तमिलनाडु में और ज्यादा मजबूत होगी और राज्य में कमल खिलेगा.उन्होंने यह भी बताया कि वी मैत्रेयन जयललिता के काफी करीबी नेता रहे हैं,तीन बार राज्य सभा सांसद रह चुके हैं और राज्य के वरिष्ठ नेता हैं.अपने शुरुआती दिनों में मैत्रेयन आरएसएस के सदस्य भी रह चुके हैं. साल 1991 में मैत्रेयन तमिलनाडु में बीजेपी के कार्यकारी सदस्य बने. इसके बाद 1995 से 1997 तक उन्होंने बीजेपी की तमिलनाडु इकाई के महासचिव के रूप में काम किया और 2000 में पार्टी से इस्तीफा देने से पहले उन्होंने पार्टी में कई उच्च पदों पर काम किया.
