मणिपुर में भड़की हिंसा के बाद बिगड़े हालातों पर नजर बनाए रखने के लिए केंद्रीय गृह मंत्री अमित शाह ने शुक्रवार 5 मई को होने वाला कर्नाटक दौरा रद्द कर दिया है. सूत्रों के मुताबिक, मणिपुर के हालातों को गंभीरता से लेते हुए केंद्रीय गृह मंत्री ने कर्नाटक दौरा रद्द करने का फैसला लिया है. बीजेपी की ओर से जारी कार्यक्रम के अनुसार, कर्नाटक में शुक्रवार को गृहमंत्री के तीन कार्यक्रम तय थे. इनमें एक बैठक और दो रोड शो शामिल थे मणिपुर में बिगड़े हालात के मद्देनजर गृह मंत्रालय लगातार स्थिति पर नजर बनाए हुए हैं. गृहमंत्री अमित शाह गुरुवार (5 मई) से ही लगातार सुरक्षा व्यवस्था हालात की समीक्षा कर रहे हैं. फिलहाल केंद्र सरकार की ओर से मणिपुर हिंसा को देखते हुए राज्य में 1500 अर्द्धसैनिक बलों की तैनाती की जा चुकी है. इसके साथ ही सेना की 55 टुकड़ियों को भी मणिपुर में तैनात किया गया है. मणिपुर में हिंसा भड़कने के बाद राज्य के मुख्यमंत्री एन बीरेन सिंह ने कहा कि सरकार की ओर से प्रदेश में कानून-व्यवस्था बनाए रखने के लिए हर संभव कोशिश की जा रही है. सरकार राज्य के नागरिकों और सार्वजनिक संपत्तियों की सुरक्षा के लिए प्रतिबद्ध है. कर्नाटक दौरा रद्द होने से एक दिन पहले ही अमित शाह ने मणिपुर के सीएम एन बीरेन सिंह और अन्य पड़ोसी राज्यों के मुख्यमंत्रियों के साथ बैठक की. गृह मंत्री ने वीडियो कॉन्फ्रेंसिंग के जरिये केंद्र और राज्य के उच्च अधिकारियों के साथ हालातों की समीक्षा पर भी बातचीत की. मणिपुर हिंसा के मद्देनजर राज्य में 8 मई तक इंटरनेट पर बैन लगा दिया गया है. इसके साथ ही राज्य में ट्रेनों के परिचालन पर भी रोक लगा दी गई है. इतना ही नहीं, हिंसाग्रस्त 8 जिलों में कर्फ्यू लगाने के साथ उपद्रवियों को देखते ही गोली मारने के आदेश जारी किए गए हैं.
